Life insurance policies are issued by insurance companies. Any guarantees are backed by the claims-paying ability of the issuing company. Policy values, dividends and loan terms depend on the specific contract, your age, your health and the outcome of underwriting, and are shown on an illustration with guaranteed and non-guaranteed columns. Dividends are not guaranteed. Early cash value can be less than the premiums paid. Policy loans accrue interest, reduce the death benefit and the available cash value while outstanding, and if not repaid can cause a policy to lapse with tax consequences.
